November and Art Shows

December 2022. Here’s a little update on what I’ve been up to in my studio!

Tis the season! For cold, wintery days, festive celebrations and gatherings and art shows.

This year Ive been busy with submitting my art to juried shows, delivering and picking up art and madly painting in my studio! More recently I have 10 paintings in Artwrx Studio gallery’s Square Foot Show. See my home page for the gallery and here’s the web link for a peek at all the wonderful art from 75 artists https://www.eventeny.com/events/square-foot-show-2022-3830/

As well I have one piece in the Rural Decay show in Qualicum Beach at The Old Schoolhouse Art Centre. What an active art centre! https://www.theoldschoolhouse.org/

As an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists I have lots of opportunity to enter their juried shows and have 3 making their way to the annual fundraiser at the Granville Island gallery in Vancouver, BC. Its the Ten Squared show and will be viewable in person and on line from Dec 13th to Dec 23rd. Its a great show that offers art that appeals to all tastes. Here’s the web link for the on line gallery to view starting Dec 13th: https://federationgallery.com/exhibitions

And finally a pic of one of my recent small paintings from a series I’m just starting called Elements. This one is ‘Iron (Fe)’ and is 8″ x 8″ on cradled wood panel, ready to hang.

Well, not quite ‘finally’! I was walking the other day thinking about how I find November my most difficult month. Then I had the idea for a poem tentatively titled, If This Was My Last November. Sometimes I get ideas for poems while I’m walking, most of the time they just stay in my head though. But this one was almost therapeutic in a way. In forming words and phrases in my brain it turned out to be a gratefulness poem. For instance, If this was my last November I’d get out in the forest everyday, rain or shine or I’d admire all the seed heads on all the plants and flowers I see or I’d savour the darkness and enjoy having a cozy bed to climb into. See what I mean? I’d love to hear your thoughts about November!

Cheers

Elaine
