I may have said this before but my Mom , who was an amazing artist, always said there are many ways to be creative and artistic. She’d point out the things I do like gardening or sewing as part of my creative nature. Back then I couldn’t see it and sort of dismissed the idea. Until the last few years when I started pursuing my own visual art making. Now I see creativity everywhere. I’ve also been lucky enough to have friends and family who are creative and artistic types. Which is so great. And each one has their schtick. Which is what being creative is all about right? Its an expression of how you see and feel about the world.
This week I was thinking about my friend/coworker who is a visual artist and a poet and she’s just published a book of poetry. I asked her if I could feature her here and she so graciously sent me a great blurb about her book. She’s currently sold out but I have a copy ordered….very exciting. You can also follow her on Instagram. @caroline.miskenack
About the Book
“In her debut book, Shaping Pearls, Caroline Miskenack has intricately woven parts of her life’s story with universal wisdom and the healing power of nature and the elements to create a soulfully expressed collection of poems that traverse the depth and breadth of being human.
Her poetry explores themes of personal reorientation through cycles of transformation, illuminations gained by choosing to see beyond challenge, being emboldened by remembrance of one’s inner power, coming to know the resilience of soul, discovering ways to liberation, reclaiming self-worth, and honouring the heart-expanding and heartbreaking bonds of love and loss.
Shaping Pearls is a journey to find treasure hidden inside of life’s trials, to cultivate beauty from pain, to preserve the light in darkness. It is an offering of hope and an invitation for readers to contemplate how they are shaping their own magnificent pearls.”
